How Do You Cope with Stress?
How do we deal with stress? Whether it’s from work, school, or personal life, stress seems to find its way to everyone at some point.
For me, I try to cope by trying to make myself feel relaxed, listening to music, and journaling my thoughts, it really helps me clear my mind. Sometimes I also talk things out with a friend when it feels too heavy to handle alone.
All of us experience going through some stress at some point in our lives and we deal with them differently. To cope with stress, first we need to know or address the cause of our stress and how it affects our well-being. We need to identify the sources whether it's work related, relationship, or other factors. Once you identify the cause, you can set a plan or goal on how you can control and reduce your stress level. You can practice relaxation methods to ease muscle tension and clear your mind. Try breathing exercises or meditation. You can also do stretching or just take a hot shower or a hot bath. Some do physical activities such as aerobics, running, cycling, swimming, etc. You can also choose to have a "ME TIME", not thinking of anything else, just enjoying yourself or the things that you love to do alone. It can be just sitting on your couch watching a movie or listening to music, travelling alone, enjoying a carefree moment. While others either resort it in stress eating and some the other way around, doing diet plans.
But when they are already too heavy to handle, you may talk to friends and family about your feelings, as they may offer valuable assistance and advice. Stress if not taken care of may lead to serious mental health issues. Always remember to seek help when you feel like needing it. You are not alone.
One way to avoid stress is appreciating the good things in your life that can improve your ability to handle difficult situations. Before the day ends, recall or write down three positive things that happened during the day. In that way, your mind will be filled with positivity during your sleep and will be ready with a clear mind for the next day.
I’m curious to hear from you all:
- What helps you manage or relieve stress?
- Do you have any routines or habits that help you stay calm and positive?
Let’s share some tips that might help others who are going through stressful times too.
