A Heartfelt Message for Children Whose Parents Are Aging
The passage of time does not cause me distress.
* Lines Upon My Face: Seeing creases in the mirror is no sign of defeat. They merely mark the cheerful chapters of my life story.
* Silver Tresses: A head of gray hair is no simple mark of aging—it stands as living proof of the endless nights spent staying awake for those I cherish.
* Unsteady Steps: Should my feet falter, it is not out of weakness. It simply means I have traveled a lengthy road.
Yet, a quiet worry haunts my thoughts late at night...
I dread the moment my voice is treated as background noise. I fear becoming an unwelcome burden, or having loved ones care for me purely out of obligation instead of affection.
I do not want attention given out of mere duty. Should someone reach for my hand, I pray for genuine warmth in their grasp—never pity.
My Final Wish Is Not Merely Quantity of Years...
* I hope to appreciate that morning cup of tea until my final day.
* I hope falling rain continues to lift my spirits just as it always has.
* I hope to maintain the independence to make my own modest decisions.
* Though my physical strength wanes, may my smile remain bright.
* Though my memory dims, may I always remember how to share kindness.
* Though my health declines, may my moral character stand strong.
It is not death that frightens me. I only fear the day others reflect back and say: "Managing him was such a strain..."
Instead, I pray they recall:
"Here was someone who brought warmth, dignity, and blessings to every path he walked."
