A Gambler’s Crazy Bet

A few months ago, while I was browsing YouTube, I heard a strange story about a gambler. It was interesting, so I want to tell it.

Ashley Revell was 32 years old in 2004. He made a crazy decision. He said to himself: "I have worked hard for a long time, but I still haven't reached what I want. So I will either double everything I have or lose it all. I don't want to spend many more years saving money."

He sold everything he owned: his car, his clothes, his personal things. He collected 135,300 dollars. He had made up his mind. He would bet all of it on red in roulette. He was so sure, as if an angel was whispering in his ear: "Roulette, red, all in."

The TV channel Sky One was filming this event. Ashley looked for a casino that would accept his bet. Not every casino would take it, because it was a life-changing amount and decision for Ashley and also a large amount for the casino too. But finally, one casino accepted.

The moment of the spin arrived. Everyone held their breath. He kept saying to himself: "Red, red, red…" The ball stopped on… black? No… Red! He doubled his entire fortune in one stressful, breathtaking moment. He was happy that he didn’t have to work hard for another 135,000 dollars. He left the roulette table with 270,600usd.

Ashley said: "The only thing that worried me was that my family and friends would be so disappointed if I lost." After he won, everyone was happy, but his father strongly disagreed with what he did and called him a "bad son" However, Ashley never gambled again. He continued his normal life and got married.

But why did he really do it?
What kind of thoughts make someone risk so much money? No one can predict the future, especially in gambling. What if the ball had landed on black?
What would his life have been like?
-Starting from zero with more hardship.
-Disappointing his family and friends.
-Probably living alone, sad, and maybe never getting married.

Ashley doubled his life, but there are many others whose lives turned dark. Always remember (bet carefully)
