Hello everyone...

In the world where we live, each country has its own culture and traditions and also New Year festival.

Similarly, my country, Myanmar, also has a very beautiful and happy New Year water festival. It is called (Thingyan) in Burmese. It means the transition to the new year.

This Thingyan festival is the most famous and important of the 12-month festivals in Myanmar. It is a festival that everyone, including young children, is eagerly waiting for.

Thingyan has been celebrated in Myanmar for many years.

The main purpose of Thingyan is to splash water on each other. 💦 The reason is to cleanse the impurities of the old year and to bring peace in the new year. 💦💦

In the past, people would splash water on each other with palm branches, but now they celebrate with water cannons, water guns, and pavilions. Some people chase after those who run away without being splashed with water and put their faces with soot. 😆

While urban residents drive around in water-filled cars, now they celebrate Thingyan on foot.

In rural areas, people also build stages with coconut branches and have fun playing with water.

They splash water during the day, and at night they present with songs and dances ..

The Thingyan festival is held every year from April 13 to 16. April 17 is the beginning of the Myanmar New Year.

People of all ages across the country celebrate Thingyan in various ways. Some people splash and play with 💦, while others observe fasts in monasteries and meditate in meditation centers..🙏🙏🙏

As a good deed, people wash old age hair, trim their nails, and also release fishes 🐟🐠🐡

The main food of Thingya are (MontLoneYayPaw) and (MontLattSaung). These two foods are served to those who happily play in the water during Thingyan. .. As a happy memory, sometimes people put a little chili in the (MontLoneYayPaw) and joke with each other..

The Myanmar Thingyan is announced as UNESCO inscribed it on the World Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2024, on December 5.

I wish everyone a happy and peaceful Myanmar New Year. 🌊💦🌼🏵️🌸
