Hello to all Windice friends. Happy New Year 🥳🎉🎉.

Today I want to write about how long you're supposed to say "Happy New Year." I don't know about you, but I'm already tired of saying it to everyone you run into on the street, coworkers, delivery people… Until what date do you think we should be saying Happy New Year?

In my opinion, until the 3rd would be more than enough. Those first few days have that "new beginning" magic, that smell of a new calendar and the "this year for sure" spirit. But after January 4th… life is already back to normal: work, routine, and resolutions starting to wobble 😅.

However, the reality is that I keep doing it almost out of inertia, like a social obligation. You greet someone, you notice that little awkward silence, and out it comes: "Happy New Year!" By mid-January I already feel a bit ridiculous, but what can you do? It seems rude not to return the greeting.

I have a feeling that, at most, we should extend it until the first weekend of the year. After Three Kings' Day, the holiday season is completely over. But deep down… wouldn't it be better to only say Happy New Year until the night of the 1st? After all, when you say "good morning" you don't repeat it all day long 😂.

A clearly defined date is unparalleled. It is a matter of personal choice. For instance, friends may meet after four days or perhaps a week, and may wish each other which is still fine. It is perfectly acceptable to extend your wishes or refrain from doing so after a certain period, as there are no definitive right or wrong approaches in this situation. Therefore, you can make your decision accordingly.

The thing is, the words that we utter "Happy New Year" may not justify whether we will to something through the words or not! Personally, exchange of greeting would mark a positive sign about you on the other end's mind! I don't celebrate the new year! It is as usual as the other days or years or weeks or months we have lived or are gonna live further! :)

I totally get it. You're not alone in feeling a bit meh about saying Happy New Year beyond the first few days. January 3rd seems like a fair cutoff - by then, the new beginning magic is wearing off, and reality's kicking in.

It's funny how it's become a social habit, like saying bless you when someone sneezes. And true, after Three Kings' Day, the holiday vibe is pretty much gone.

Maybe we should just limit it to the first 24 hours, like a New Year's greeting expiration date. After that, it's all about the everyday vibes and actual interactions.

What do you think about replacing Happy New Year with something more low-key, like Hey, back to reality! or New vibes, anyone?

"Totally agree! 😄 Saying 'Happy New Year' till the 3rd feels about right. After that, it's like, yeah, we got the memo 🤣. First weekend max, then let's move on! Don't feel bad ditching the greeting, just say 'Hey, how's it going? instead. Let's normalize not saying it by mid-January 😂 #HappyNewYear

I believe that the essence of reality is that each day is a fresh start, that we are still present in the world, which is a tremendous blessing. With every sunrise, a new day emerges, bringing forth new opportunities. Therefore, I think that the spirit of Happy New Year should not diminish; rather, it gets evolve into a continuous celebration of Happy Days or Good Days in a broader sense we greet each other.
