How much meaning lies in the order of words, even within the relationships of this universe. Grandfather and grandmother, maternal grandfather and grandmother, brother and sister, husband and wife: in most pairings the man's name comes first. Yet when it comes to mother and father, language itself gives the mother precedence.
Perhaps this is because a mother is not merely a relationship. She is a mercy woven into the secret of creation: the one through whom life is born, in whose embrace love first opens its eyes, and in the shelter of whose prayers a helpless human being still holds on to hope.
If a father is the strong roof of a home, a mother is its soul, without whom the walls remain standing but the home loses its meaning. A father bears the scorching sun for his children; a mother turns herself into a candle and spreads light through their darkness. Both sacrifices are great in their own right, yet nature has placed in a mother's love a selflessness that gives up its own happiness for her child's smile and still utters no complaint.
Perhaps that is why paradise was declared to lie beneath a mother's feet. Some paths are travelled not with steps but with reverence; some destinations are reached not by strength but by service; and some prayers have the power to open the doors of heaven.
Remember this: at a mother's feet lies more than the promise of paradise. There lie a person's own origin, their upbringing, and the secret of their spiritual elevation. The heart that holds respect for its mother, the hand that serves her, and the tongue that prays for her are never deprived of mercy, and such a life is never without blessing.
A mother is a sacred prayer that Providence sent down to earth in human form. Cherish her, for her presence is a mercy, her prayer is a treasure, and her absence leaves a void that no comfort in this world can fill.

When my mother was still with me, I neglected to show her enough love or take proper care of her. Now that she is gone, I feel deep regret for not having done those things. If both your parents are still alive, you are truly the luckiest person. Do not wait too long to love and care for both of them.
