Midnight Doorsteps
Pumpkins grin with candle jaws,
porch lights bloom like tiny moons;
boots crunch paths of copper leaves,
owls rehearse their haunted tunes.
Windows breathe a fog of tales,
quilts of shadow stitch the street;
witch hats tilt like crescent smiles,
soft capes skim on sneaking feet.
Candy rustles—sweet alarms—
friends appear in ghostly bands;
laughter skips from mask to mask,
magic passes hand to hand.
If fear taps twice—just wink, walk on;
the night is brave, and so are you.
May lanterns guide you safely home,
and every wish you make come true.
My wish for you: a Halloween
of cosy chills and kind delights—
good luck, warm laughs, and gentle frights;
sweet peace and wonder through your night
