Has this ever happened to you?
That you’re drifting off to sleep happily, and suddenly you feel like you’re falling from a height and your body jolts awake?
This is called a *“hypnic jerk.”*
It happens when a person is about to enter deep sleep.
At that moment, the body’s temperature is dropping, and the heart rate is slowing down.
And as the brain begins to disconnect from the body’s movements, it creates a tiny dream in which you feel yourself falling from a height, and your body jerks in response.
Remember…
At that moment, your body is at the peak of exhaustion and your life systems are slowing down.
But Allah pulls you back toward life and saves your soul from death.
SubhanAllah.
How many times does this happen without us even realizing how close we were.
Another reality is this:
A person turns over many times during the night.
This is a natural process.
Because the body’s weight puts pressure on the muscles and blood vessels underneath, and when this pressure becomes too much, the body’s sensory system signals the brain:
“Pressure has built up.” The brain immediately commands the body to turn to the other side.
You’ll be amazed to know that a person turns over more than forty times on average during sleep.
And if this didn’t happen, bedsores would begin to form in the flesh, and a painful condition would develop.
Another amazing system during sleep is Allah’s arrangement for swallowing saliva.
When you sleep, saliva slowly collects in the mouth. The brain receives the message, and it moves the base of the tongue, the airway closes, and the saliva goes down into the stomach.
If Allah had left this process to you, you would have choked to death in your sleep.
But it is Allah alone
Who takes care of you even in the moments of sleep.
*STAY BLESSED*
