When the first one appears, almost all of us think about hiding it. As if it were an enemy that comes to remind us that time passes. But over the years I understood that a gray hair is not a defeat; It is a story written in silence.
Each one represents something that I have already experienced, difficult decisions, immense joys, losses, a goal achieved or even mistakes from which I learned more than I would have imagined. Time can change our appearance, but it also gives us something that cannot be bought, great experiences. That made me think a lot about casinos and my tour in Windice.
When I started, I believed that everything depended on luck. If I won, I thought I had found the perfect formula. If he lost, he looked for another strategy, believing that the previous one was no longer useful. It was a cycle that many of us surely know. As time went by, I understood that the real difference was not in the next turn, but in everything I had learned before doing it.
Today I know when it is better to stop, when a bad streak should not turn into a chase for losses and when a good streak does not mean that I am invincible either. That knowledge did not appear overnight. It was built with hundreds of sessions, with successes and mistakes.
Gray hair does exactly the same thing with life. They remind us that nothing is eternal. Neither the difficult moments last forever, nor the victories last a lifetime. Everything changes. Everything passes. But there is something that does remain: what has been learned. No one can take away the lessons my mistakes taught me. No one can erase the patience I developed after wanting to give up so many times. No one can eliminate the discipline that I built little by little. The same thing happens in a casino. The balance can go up or down. A strategy may work today and not tomorrow. Luck will always be unpredictable. However, the experience stays with us. That is an investment that never goes away. That's why I no longer look at gray hair as a sign that time is slipping away. I see them as small medals that life hands out without making a sound. They don't reward perfection; They reward having moved forward. And perhaps that is the greatest lesson we share in life and casinos.
We don't win because we never lose.
We win when we are able to turn every defeat into a lesson, every mistake into a better strategy, and every passing year into a wiser version of ourselves.
In the end, time always moves forward. Gray hair will continue to appear and luck will continue to change.
But as long as I continue to learn from each experience, I will feel that, one way or another, I am always winning.

Both in life and at the tables, the truest victory isn't avoiding the losses, but cashing in on the wisdom those gray hairs represent.
