Do not look back at the ghosts of yesterday. Like the September equinox, find your perfect balance. Leave behind what has faded and prepare to harvest the beautiful things coming your way.
Ah, 30th, the last date of September. Just a few more hours and we’ll finally be saying farewell to this month and officially welcoming October, the second 'BER' month of the calendar.
But the ultimate question is: the Ghost Month officially ended weeks ago, so did those financial ghosts finally stop messing with your bets, or are they still haunting your wallet? Because honestly, I’m still out here getting ghosted by my own returns!
But hey, before we completely turn the page and dive into pumpkin-spice everything, let’s give September some well-deserved credit. It’s actually a pretty fascinating month worldwide.
- The Ultimate Overachiever That Acts Small: Etymologically, "September" comes from the Latin septem, meaning "seven," because it was originally the 7th month in the old Roman calendar. Even when the calendar was rearranged and it got bumped to the 9th month, September never changed its name. Talk about staying true to your brand, even when life completely upends your plans.
- The Equalizer of the Cosmos: September brings the Equinox, one of the only two times a year when day and night are exactly equal in length everywhere on Earth. It’s the universe’s subtle way of reminding your community that no matter how chaotic things get, balance is always achievable.
- The Global Gateway to Celebration: Globally, September serves as the official bridge out of summer or winter slumps. It hosts World Gratitude Day (Sept 21) and World Tourism Day (Sept 27), reminding us to appreciate our journeys. It’s the ultimate "launchpad" month where the energy shifts into the final stretch of the year.
Also, let me give you a little trivia about September here in our country, Philippines.
If you think September is just another transition month, you clearly haven’t been to the Philippines. Here, September 1st isn’t just a date; it’s the unoffical launch pad for the longest Christmas season on Earth.
Here is exactly why September in the Philippines is completely unmatched:
The Legendary Jose Mari Chan Rises: The very second the clock strikes midnight on September 1st, radio stations, malls, and supermarkets nationwide cue up "Christmas in Our Hearts" by Jose Mari Chan. He becomes the ultimate harbinger of holiday cheer, and his memes dominate social media like clockwork.
The 'BER' Month Psychology: Filipinos love anticipation. By starting the countdown four months early, the collective mood immediately shifts. The heavy rainy season blues get replaced by the excitement of upcoming reunions, festive street lanterns (parols), and holiday bonuses.
An Extended Season of Giving: Practically speaking, starting early gives families time to plan. It means more time to save for gifts, ship out Balikbayan boxes from overseas relatives, and stretch out the joyous atmosphere for as long as humanly possible. So in short, the moment September starts, thats officially the time most of us Filipinos start HOARDING.
Specially we know that by November and December, plenty of things will either be, 'OUT OF STOCK', or too pricey.
Also, We Filipinos have this wild habit wherein, once September hits, the Christmas lights go up, the gifts get wrapped, and we start calculating the massive financial damage our godchildren are about to do to our wallets!
A genuine note from me to all of you
If September left you with a few ghosts, unresolved bets, or unfinished chapters, don't worry, you are not behind. Think of September as the deep breath before the grand finale. Just like how nature uses this time to transition seamlessly into a brand new season, you don't have to wait for the 'perfect moment' to reset your goals. October is a completely blank canvas. Let go of what haunted you this past month, step into your power, and let's finish this year stronger, wiser, and happier than ever. You’ve got this!
Advance Happy Holidays to one and all.
Always enjoy life, stay positive no matter the outcome, and always be grateful.
