Torino-Genoa will play Friday, October 22nd at 6,30PM CET Time
Torino coach Ivan Juric has grown up as manager in Genoa, having spent nine years on the pitch and on the bench, leading the rossoblù to salvation in the 2016-17 championship thanks to a success on the penultimate day against Turin.
The bond with Genoa has never completely dissolved
But Juric is not the type for easy sentimentality, especially when there are three important points at stake for the classification. After two defeats in the first two days, in fact, Torino had started to grind points, beating Salernitana and Sassuolo, and drawing against Venice and Lazio. Then came two more straight defeats, against Juventus and Napoli: higher level opponents, of course, but that the grenades managed to contain very well, only to yield in the final minutes. Against Genoa, in short, Toro needs to win, to get away from the relegation zone and start cultivating some more ambition in the classification.
Genoa is also not going through a great moment: they have not won in the league since September 12, like Torino, and have already collected 18 goals in 8 games. Furthermore, the Grifone has not won in Turin for almost a decade and in the last eight direct matches it has collected the misery of two points (2N, 6D).
NEWS FROM TEAMS
TORINO: Ivan Juric should have resolved all his doubts: Singo and Pobega are confirmed for the starting 11, Praet returns as a starter paired with Brekalo, behind the striker. Who will be probably Sanabria, prefered to Belotti.
GENOA: Biraschi has recovered, he trained well during the week and he will be Ballardini's pick in defence. Alongside will play mexican Vasquez, who was convincing against Sassuolo.
In attack, alongside Destro, Ekuban is favorite over Kallon and Pandev. The recovery plan for Caicedo requires the Ecuadorian to play more than twenty minutes, but anyway he will have to wait the last part of the game to get in the pitch.
UNAVAILABLE PLAYERS
TORINO: Edera, PJaca, Verdi, Mandragora
GENOA: Vanheusden, Maksimovic, Bani, Hernani.
Starting XI
Torino (3-4-2-1): V.Milinkovic; Djidji, Bremer, Buongiorno; Singo, Lukic, Pobega, Ansaldi; Praet, Brekalo; Sanabria. Man.: Juric
Genoa (3-5-2): Sirigu; Biraschi, Vasquez, Criscito; Sabelli, Tourè, Badelj, Rovella, Fares, Destro, Ekuban. Man.: Ballardini
QUOTES
William Hill
1: 1,75
X: 3,60
2: 5
First scorer: Belotti (4,50)
MY ADVICE
I suggest not to bet on Belotti as scorer, because as we have seen he may not be in the starting eleven
Torino is the favorite, but Genoa could try to keep up the pace and take advantage of the not very strong attack of Torino.
personally, I would play
First half result: X Second half result: 1 (William Hill: 4,80)
Correct score 2-1 (8,50) or 1-0 (6,50)
First scorer: Sanabria (5)
