We've all been there, you're having a nice chat, and out of nowhere some annoying user shows up spamming, whether it's text, images, you name it. The chat suddenly starts flying at a hundred miles an hour and becomes impossible to read, killing the good vibes in a split second.
Sometimes, as a community, we make the mistake of taking the bait. Most of the time i see people getting angry when this happens, they respond to them and end up playing right into their game. That's why i wrote this post to share my take on it.
First thing you need to know is there are different kinds of spammers. Let’s break them down one by one:
The copy paster: This type of spammer likes to copy and paste strange texts or messages from other users and repeats them every five minutes. They have zero interest in actually talking to anyone and they just want to be annoying or clutter up the chat to trigger a raid.
The fake guru: This is the classic one who comes in trying to sell you a channel (on Telegram, for example) with "foolproof" strategies promising big money. It's a scam. Their goal is to get your personal info or your cash. Be super careful with this one because it's the most dangerous.
The toxic whiner: They show up in a terrible mood, and instead of closing the casino tab and going outside to get some fresh air, they decide to stick around in the chat wanting all of us to suffer with them. They start spamming and insulting the moderators, the website, and anyone who happens to cross their path in the chat at that moment.
The endless clone: This one literally has nothing better to do with their life. They get banned for having multiple accounts, and five minutes later they're back with a brand new one. They've got account 1, 2, 3, and beyond to infinity and beyond, lol. It's important to point out that a spammer thrives on the spectacle. They get a kick out of watching a chat spiral out of control, seeing people get mad and start insulting them.
If we complain in the public chat, we're just giving them fuel to keep being a pain. The best form of contempt is no attention at all, if we all ignore them and nobody gives them the time of day, they'll get bored and go bother someone else.
Don't even mess with links: In the middle of the chaos, they take advantage to slip in sketchy links.I'm telling you from experience, no matter how curious you are, don't click on anything. You could get hacked or get a virus on your device. Let the mods handle it. Keeping your account safe comes first! So what can we do in these situations?
Report discreetly: Report the user who's spamming, but keep it quiet. You can report them privately to a mod or straight to tech support.
Wait for the tide to settle: Trying to chat in the middle of heavy spam is a waste of time. The best move is to stop typing and leave the spammer all alone so they get bored. If the room goes silent, the spammer's circus runs out of an audience.
Don't get mad if they come back: If they mute one and five minutes later another clone pops up, just take a deep breath and wait for the staff to get the situation under control.Use that time to stretch your legs or grab a drink.
This happens in online casinos all the time. There are users who have literally nothing better to do with their lives than annoy people, but those of us who are decent just want to see an orderly chat, with good vibes, where you can have a pleasant time. Interacting with people from other countries is awesome!
Moderators do their job, but we run the room. If we don't like a toxic user, we can band together to report them, and that way we all win.
