A French film that masterfully orchestrates the clash between documentary reality and dreamlike fiction, with the latter ultimately prevailing in an unforeseen melodramatic acceleration. An adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel This Sweet Sickness, Miller weaves a thriller riddled with unhealthy obsessions, romantic misunderstandings, and accidents of dubious origin, creating a strange, somewhat bizarre narrative that would resonate even more strongly in the previously discussed Mortelle randonnée.

In Dites-lui que je l’aime (Tell her that I love her), “je t’aime à la folie” takes on a full meaning when the experience of unrequited love becomes a double-sided game. With an excellent performance by Depardieu and the always iconic Miou-Miou, the film gains solidity and grace as it clearly seeks its own style, culminating in an allegorical ending that aims to go beyond conventional crime storytelling. A special note goes to the memory of the late actress Dominique Laffin, who tragically passed away at the age of 33.
