On one hand, the creative potential of this trend is undeniable. AI has made visual art more accessible than ever, allowing millions to explore new forms of expression without needing technical skills. It has also reignited interest in Studio Ghibli, introducing new generations to films that are not only visually stunning but filled with messages about nature, empathy, and spirituality.
However, not everything is picture perfect. This trend has also raised important concerns. Studio Ghibli has not authorized the use of its art style in these apps, raising questions about copyright and respect for artists’ work. There’s also the environmental impact to consider, the massive energy consumption required to train AI models. And let’s not forget the worry among human artists, whose styles are being imitated by machines without credit or compensation.
In the midst of this dilemma, we must ask ourselves: are we using technology to create with intention, or just to follow a trend? Can we admire art while also valuing its origins? Studio Ghibli has always taught us that the most precious things lie in the details ,in our connection to the real and the invisible. Esta tendencia, impulsada por herramientas de inteligencia artificial, permite que cualquier persona vea su imagen convertida en un personaje sacado de una película como Mi vecino Totoro o El viaje de Chihiro. Pero, aunque a simple vista parece solo una moda inofensiva y encantadora, también ha abierto un debate profundo sobre la relación entre arte, tecnología y conciencia colectiva.
